This is the second chapter of my new webshow, Jenni’s Lair. I’m really sorry that it’s not very good this time becaue of course we were in Disneyland and I didn’t have a lot of time (or a script, for that matter). Also, very sorry that it’s almost a week late. Furthermore, very very very sorry that I couldn’t show the drawings of Drake. Hopefully I’ll have them next episode, March 7, 2010. Website still isn’t up, but I’m getting to it. Also, I didn’t get to put in the Where Am I Now? in there so I’ll put it here. The city I’m in now is one of the major tourist places in America. It has three theme park resorts and four theme parks in all, along with several major shows, attractions, restarants, etc. Put your guess in the comments and check out my other videos about this Disneyland trip.

Niagara Falls (French: les Chutes de Niagara) are massive waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the international border separating the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The falls are 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, 75 miles (120 km) south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.

Niagara Falls is composed of two major sections parted by Goat Island: Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side of the border and American Falls on the United States side. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls also is located on the American side, separated from the main falls by Luna Island. Niagara Falls were formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation (the last ice age), and water from the newly-formed Great Lakes carved a path through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean. While not exceptionally high, the Niagara Falls are very wide. More than six million cubic feet (168,000 m³) of water fall over the crest line every minute in high flow,[1] and almost 4 million cubic feet (110,000 m³) on average. It is the most powerful waterfall in North America.[2]

The Niagara Falls are renowned both for their beauty and as a valuable source of hydroelectric power. Managing the balance between recreational, commercial, and industrial uses has been a challenge for the stewards of the falls since the 1800s.

Niagara Falls is divided into the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. The Horseshoe Falls drop about 173 feet (53 m). The American Falls drop about 70 feet (21 m) before reaching a jumble of fallen rocks that were deposited by a massive rock slide in 1954. The larger Horseshoe Falls are about 2,600 feet (792 m) wide, while the American Falls are 1,060 feet (323 m) wide. The volume of water approaching the falls during peak flow season is 202,000 cubic feet per second (5,720 m³/s).[3] By comparison Africa’s spectacular Victoria Falls has over 15 million cubic feet (424,750 m³) of water falling over its crest line each minute during the peak of the wet season (250,000 cu ft/7,079 m³ per second).[4] Since the flow is a direct function of the Lake Erie water elevation, it typically peaks in late spring or early summer. During the summer months, 100,000 cubic feet per second (2,832 m³/s) of water actually traverses the Falls, some 90% of which goes over the Horseshoe Falls, while the balance is diverted to hydroelectric facilities. This is accomplished by employing a weir with movable gates upstream from the Horseshoe Falls. The Falls flow is further halved at night, and during the low tourist season in the winter, remains a flat 50,000 cubic feet per second (1,416 m³/s). Water diversion is regulated by the 1950 Niagara Treaty and is administered by the International Niagara Board of Control (IJC).[5] Viewpoints on the American shore generally are astride or behind the falls. The falls face directly toward the Canadian shore. Thus, the most complete views of Niagara Falls are available from the Canadian shoreline. It is about a two hour drive from Toronto.

About the Film: The images and video show a rare view of this young American boy (9yrs) and his sister (8yrs) traveling through small villages and bridged the cultural gap through the language of music.

About Director: Christian is an eleven-year-old who wrote, directed, produced, and edited this documentary BY HIMSELF about his experience in Ethiopia, Africa. Although not the initial plan, reactions to his film have led to the development of a much needed reconstruction project in an Ethiopian elementary school where children still sit on the dirt floors for their lessons. Christian and his friends have experienced a paradigm shift with the realization that they (elementary students) CAN change the face of education half a world away! By letting go of limiting thoughts and “being the change they wish to see in the world”, they are challenging others to live and love LARGE…right NOW!

Tourism is relatively new to this East African nation due to many years of civil war and unfortunately it has been long associated with draught, famine, and AIDS. You are about to learn of a new Ethiopia, one of beauty, of peace… of hope. A nation of natural and cultural wonders once hidden by a thick veil of war and hunger.

Niagara Falls is divided into the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. The Horseshoe Falls drop about 173 feet (53 m), the height of the American Falls varies between 70100 feet (21 m) because of the presence of giant boulders at its base. The larger Horseshoe Falls are about 2,600 feet (792 m) wide, while the American Falls are 1,060 feet (323 m) wide.
The oldest and best known tourist attraction at Niagara Falls is the Maid of the Mist boat cruise, named for an ancient Ongiara Indian mythical character, which has carried passengers into the whirlpools beneath the Falls since 1846. Cruise boats operate from boat docks on both sides of the falls.
Niagara Falls is a city in Niagara County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 55,593. It is across the Niagara River from Niagara Falls, Ontario (also a city), both named after the famed Niagara Falls which they share. It is part of both the BuffaloNiagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Western New York region.

In 2002, whilst living in Castiglion Fiorentino in Tuscany, I had the opportunity to do some flying over Lago Trasimeno and its quaint villages, please enjoy the sights of a wonderful part of the world — compliments of Alessandro Sorbello Productions http://www.alessandrosorbello.com you are listening to the original music of Jaider http://youtube.com/watch?v=E4O7STJFGxA

If you are looking for a place to spend your holidays in Tuscany then check out http://www.AcommodationTuscany.com Tuscany is world famous for its wonderful wines http://www.vinidellatoscana.com/

The Lake Trasimeno Park, with its 13,200 hectares, is the largest of the six Umbrian Regional Parks. Its administration promoted and realized some projects aiming at protecting and restoring the environment, such as the Scese Project. This project has recovered and rendered functional the ancient roads that give onto the Lake Trasimeno, transforming them in real and proper «windows» that permit one to immerse oneself in a natural environment of exceptional value. There are no industrial plants, and the presence of riviera-type towns and little fishing villages proud of their own traditions and lifestyles which go back in time, make this area a place where water, earth and air are free of contamination, where life flows tranquilly in a natural environment, where animals still stop to drink from the lake water and mix perfectly with the surroundings.

Isola Minore
We have very little historical data for this island, the smallest of the three. It was called “Isoletta” (little island) until the beginning of the twentieth century, and is now part of the territory of Passignano. It is private and uninhabited, although there is a house.

Isola Polvese
Part of the Castiglione del Lago Local Authority, this is the largest of the three islands at 69.60 hectares. It is the property of the Province of Perugia and is intended as a public park. Populated by a large community until the late 1950s, today it is uninhabited. It preserves interesting historical relics such as the Monastery of San Secondo, the Church of San Giuliano and a 14th century castle recently restored. A beautiful villa of recent construction, La Foresteria, and other buildings today host scientific, educational and recreational activities. A very interesting feature is the Garden of Aquatic Plants, created by the Province of Perugia in 1995 with the architectural and functional restoration of the pool which was built in the late 1950s, to the design of the Florentine architect Pietro Porcinai, in the abandoned sandstone quarry. A path for visually handicapped people is in completion, in association with Lega Filo d’Oro di Osimo, and is in the process of getting its environmental certification.

Isola Polvese: Scientific and Educational Park

The Province of Perugia has declared Polvese a “Scientific/Educational Park” devoted to research, experimentation, training and educational activities in the environmental field. However, the Province co-ordinates activities and ensures the quality of the services provided, making available the Service Centre equipped with a Documentation Centre, a computer lab, and environmental and educational labs for schools with appropriate syllabuses according to the school level.

The island is equipped with a residential study centre in the “Villa” (13 rooms with private bath) and in the “Foresteria” (guest quarters) (14 rooms with bath), with 44 beds in total. Restaurant and bar facilities are available in the Villa (seating 60) and there is a self-service restaurant in the “Casa di Delfo” which can serve 150 – 200 at each sitting. The conference room is suitable for hosting seminars of a scientific and educational nature for a limited number of participants (30/40).

At fixed times of the day there are guided tours of the island.

Isola Maggiore
Isola Maggiore, the only inhabited island, is situated in the Municipality of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, still preserves its appearance as a 13th Century fishing village. Saint Francis of Assisi came to the island in spiritual retreat during Lent, in 1213. It is still possible to admire the chapel, in which a painting depicts his crossing of Lake Trasimeno during a storm, and the boulder where the saint knelt and prayed.
The tradition of lace-making “Irish Stitch”,is the pride of the island. Introduced to the island in 1904 by the Marquise Elena Guglielmi, a skilful and valuable craftwork which is still in practise today by the skilled craftswomen who work along Via Guglielmi, in fascinating framework which goes together well with today’s tourism on this wonderful Trasimeno island.
A few years ago a Museum Itinerary was created and is composed of four sites: Lace Museum, which preserves and highlights the best creations of the island; Isola Maggiore Documentation Centre, situated in the Casa del Capitano del Popolo; Church of San Michele Arcangelo and the Church of San Salvatore.

Tourism in the Trasimeno district is a relatively recent phenomenon, even though the area was cause for admiration already in the XVIIIth and XlXth centuries for distinguished travellers such as Goethe and Stendhal.

The German writer, on his way to Rome in October 1786, made a halt in Perugia, saw Lake Trasimeno (then more generally known as “Lake of Perugia”) and journeyed on to Assisi.
He wrote in his diary: “I left Perugia on a lovely morning, and experienced the joy of being on my own again. The city is in a beautiful position and the view of the lake is truly a delight: those sights are now well engraved in my mind’s eye”.
The author of “The Red and the Black”, instead, crossed the lake by boat in 1828, which had been called “Silver Veil” by the english poet George Byron, and wrote in “Promenades dans Rome”: “It takes about four or five days to journey from Florence to Rome, and it costs forty to forty-five francs. I prefer the Perugia route to that of Siena: one has a chance to visit Arezzo, where nothing seems to have changed since Dante’s time, moreover, the surroundings of the Lake Trasimeno are of great beauty”.
Little has changed since then from a scenic point of view, nor in the “exquisite kindness” of the inhabitants which Stendhal so appreciated.

Only the outskirts of the towns have spread slightly. The rare, but – again in the words of the author of “:The Charterhouse of Parma” – clean inns of the XIXth century have today been replaced by an adequate number of comfortable hotels, camping sites, tourist apartments, restaurants and farm-holiday facilities.
These are generally well managed family concerns, small to medium in size, which enable visitors both to enjoy the comforts of today, and to spend a holiday in an atmosphere of friendly and unobstreperous warmth.
Whether he opts for accommodation within the historic cores, with their intact flavour of the past, or whether he prefers to dwell in the countryside, where the natural beauty can be more intimately enjoyed, the visitor experiences a tranquil form of joy.
Tuoro sul Trasimeno
Permanent Documentation Centre of the Battle of Trasimeno. The Centre, inaugurated in the early months of 1996, brings together a permanent exhibition.

Città della Pieve
Pietro Perugino – “The Adoration of the Magi” (1504).Oratory of Santa Maria dei Bianchi The story is depicted as a large knightly procession.

Paciano
This small Umbrian town, winner of the European Community’s “Perfect Village” competition, is a typical medieval village, set in an amphitheatre.

Piegaro
Castello di Cibottola. The small castle is situated a short distance from Pietrafitta.

Panicale
Pietro Perugino “The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian” (1505).Church of St. SebastianThe “Martyrdom” is constructed on the basis of geometric figures.

Magione
Castle of the Knights of Malta. The “Castle of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta” was constructed between 1160 and 1170 as a fortified hospital.

Machu Picchu (the quechua machu, viejo, and picchu top, ie, “old peak”) is the contemporary name of the ruins of an ancient Llacta (village) Inca stone (whose original name was Picchu or Piche 1) built mainly in the mid-fifteenth century in the rocky mountains linking Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu in the province of Urubamba in the Cusco region in Peru. 2 Colonial Records suggest that Machu Picchu would have been a private palace or Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (Inca emperor first, 1438-1470). However, some of its finest buildings and the obvious nature of the main ceremonial route into the city testified that it was used as a religious sanctuary 3. Both uses (palace and sanctuary) would not have been inconsistent. Research in recent decades, however, have ruled out the military of course Machu Picchu (hence the popular label of “strength” or “Citadel” have been overcome) 4 Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering 5. In the list of World Heritage Sites since 1983. Its unique architectural features and landscaping and the veil of mystery that has woven around him much of the literature published on the site, have made him one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world 6 and the main Peru, where a national icon.

Niagara falls, which are massive waterfalls on the Niagara River, have always been popular for the enchanting beauty and largess. The name Niagara originates from an Iroquois word Onguiaahra which means thunder of waters. Here are some interesting facts about Niagara falls:

Facts About Niagara Falls
•Niagara Falls were formed as a result of glaciers receding at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation and water from the newly-formed Great Lakes, which together created a path through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean.

•Although the Niagara Waterfalls are not exceptionally high, they are very wide. Their length of brink is 1060 feet while their height is 176 feet. Niagara Falls are one of the most powerful waterfalls in North America.

•Niagara Falls are located on the international border that separates the Canadian province of Ontario and the American state of New York.

•Niagara Falls includes two major sections which are divided by the Goat Island. These two sections are the Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the United States side. One smaller section of the waterfall called the Bridal Veil Falls is also located on the American side and is separated from the main falls by the Luna Island.

•One of the oldest and best known tourist attractions at the Niagara Falls is the boat cruise called Maid of the Mist boat cruise, which is named after an ancient Ongiara Indian mythical character.

•The Niagara Falls had long been identified as a potential source of power. One of the very first attempts to utilize the Niagara Falls as a source of energy was in 1759. In 1759, Daniel Joncaire built a small canal above the waterfalls to power his sawmill.

•Augustus and Peter Porter later purchased this place along with the entire American falls in 1805 from the New York state government. Augustus and Peter Porter enlarged the original canal in order to provide hydraulic to power their gristmill and tannery.

•In 1853, the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power and Mining Company was chartered, which eventually constructed the canals that were to be used for electricity generation. In the year 1881, under the leadership of Jacob Schoellkopf, power was generated using the Niagara waters. The power was sufficient to illuminate both the Falls as well as the nearby Niagara Falls village.

•It is a fact that the original Niagara Falls were near the sites of present-day Queenston, Ontario, and Lewiston, New York. However owing to the erosion of their crest, the waterfalls have retreated several miles southward.

•Several people have attempted to conquer the Niagara Falls. In October 1829, Sam Patch, jumped from a high tower into the gorge below the falls and also survived the jump. This incident has continues into a long tradition of daredevils, some of whom successfully conquered the falls, while some even lost their lives in the attempt.

•The number of tourists visiting the Niagara Falls in 2008 is expected to total 20 million. In addition to this, the annual rate is expected to top 28 million tourists per year by the year 2009
